Sun Scald

This Red Maple was topped by another tree company in recent years. The homeowner thought the tree was getting too tall and so they had the tree height reduced. In topping the tree the interior branches were exposed to direct sunlight. The branches over heated and the bark exploded. This is called sun scald. The sun scald then lead to decay which weakens the branch strength. The branches then snapped in a number of storms. We were called out to clean up the mess. All this can be avoided by consulting we’re an ISA Certified Arborist before getting tree work completed at your home.
